Signing in

I can't sign in — how do I reset my password?

Use Forgot password on the sign-in page and the reset link arrives by email in a minute or two.

  1. Open the sign-in page and choose Forgot password.
  2. Enter the email you registered with. If nothing arrives, look in spam and promotions before trying again.
  3. Signed up with Google? Use the Continue with Google button instead of a password — there may not be a password on the account at all.
  4. If you set up a passkey, use that: it signs you in without a password on the device you created it on.
  5. Still locked out? Email us from the address you registered with and we'll sort it out.
How do I change the email address I sign in with?

Change it in your profile — we send a confirmation link to the new address, and nothing changes until you use it.

  1. Sign in and open your profile.
  2. Enter the new address under Sign-in email and save.
  3. Open the confirmation link we send to the new address. Until you do, your old address still signs you in — so a typo can't lock you out.
My name or another detail on my record is wrong

While your course is open you can fix it yourself on the course's details page. Once your completion is filed, those details lock to what the state has, and the update form sends the correction to us.

  1. Sign in, open the course from Your courses and choose Course details. Your name, license, date of birth, address and citation are all there.
  2. Your name and phone can also be changed from your profile, for every course you have not completed yet.
  3. Spell your name exactly as it appears on your driver license, middle name and suffix included.
  4. Once a completion is filed, its details page locks, because the state holds that record. Send the correction with the update form. Changing a filed completion costs the resubmission fee, and the Filing Confirmation includes it.

Taking the course

My course won't load, or my progress looks wrong

Sign out, sign back in and try a different browser — that clears the large majority of course-player hiccups.

  1. Sign out, sign back in, and reload the course.
  2. Try a different browser, or the same browser with extensions and ad blockers off.
  3. Your place is saved to your account rather than to the browser, so signing in again — even on another device — picks up where you left off.
  4. Still stuck? Email us and mention the device and browser you're on, and what the screen shows.
Why can't I skip ahead? What are the timers for?

Some states set a minimum time for the course. In those states, the Next button unlocks once the time for that slide is up. The timer is the state’s rule, not ours.

  1. The timer runs on the slide you are reading; it doesn't need the tab in front of you to stay signed in.
  2. Audio is optional. Turning it off doesn't shorten the slide's minimum time.
  3. Courses that carry no state time requirement let you move at your own pace.
What's on the final exam, and what happens if I don't pass?

The exam screen shows the rules for your course before you start. It lists the number of questions, the score you need, any time limit, and how many attempts you get.

  1. Read that screen before you begin — the numbers differ by state and by course, and some courses have no exam at all.
  2. Questions come one at a time, and you can't go back, so answer each one deliberately.
  3. Where a course is open book, the button on the exam screen opens the curriculum; any clock keeps running while you read.
  4. If your course allows another attempt, it costs nothing extra.

Certificates and filing

Where is my certificate?

It's in your account the moment you finish, and you can download it as many times as you like at no charge.

  1. Sign in and open the course under Past courses; the certificate page carries the download.
  2. The page also shows your state certificate number and the date it was issued, where the state issues one.
  3. Some certificates are mailed to you instead of downloaded. That page says so, and lists what has been sent.
Did my completion get filed with the state or my court?

It depends on your course, because each state handles it differently. Here is how each one works. Your account also shows the status.

  1. Florida DETS, TLSAE, and the Class E exam are filed with FLHSMV the moment you finish.
  2. Florida BDI is filed with FLHSMV, usually the moment you finish (within 48 hours if it must be filed manually), and FLHSMV forwards it to your court within 24 to 48 hours.
  3. Florida WCD is filed with FLHSMV, and you hand the certificate to your Clerk of Court.
  4. Arizona: We file electronically with your court within 48 hours.
  5. Michigan: We file electronically with the Department of State within 48 hours.
  6. Texas: We file with the TDLR within 48 hours, and you still hand your signed certificate to your court, which checks it against our filing. You can download it immediately after you pass.
  7. Missouri, Idaho, and Pennsylvania: The state requires you to deliver the certificate yourself — you can download it immediately after you pass.
I finished, but my court or record still doesn't show it

We can tell you exactly what we filed and when. Updating your record is the court’s or the state’s step, and they work on their own schedule.

  1. Check your account first — the course page says whether we filed it or the certificate is yours to deliver.
  2. If it's yours to deliver, the certificate downloads the instant you pass, and your course page says where it goes.
  3. If we filed it, email us and we'll confirm the filing and the date we sent it.
  4. Courts and state agencies post on their own schedule, and a clerk can tell you what they see today.
Can I get a printed certificate in the mail?

If your course offers one, you can order a printed copy from the certificate page. The free download is always there too.

  1. Open the course under Past courses and look under Your certificate.
  2. Order a printed copy from that page if you need one on paper; anything already mailed is listed there too.
  3. Need it faster than the mail? Email or text us and we'll tell you what's possible.

Choosing the right course

I'm not sure I picked the right course

Tell us your state and what your ticket or letter says and we'll confirm it before you spend anything.

  1. Your state's page lists every course we run there and what each one is for.
  2. If your paperwork names a course, that name is the one to match — courts and states use their own wording.
  3. Email or text us with the state and the wording on your paperwork and we'll point at the right one.
Does my ticket qualify, and does the court have to approve it?

That's a state rule rather than ours, and each state's guide answers it against that state's own authority.

  1. Open your state's guide below and read the eligibility section before you pay.
  2. Some states need the court’s permission before you sign up. Your state’s guide says whether yours does.
  3. If the guide leaves you unsure, email us the state and what your paperwork says.
My court deadline is close — what should I do?

Start the course today and tell us the date; what we can't do is change a deadline your court set.

  1. Register and begin — every course here is online and self-paced, and your progress saves as you go.
  2. Email or text us the deadline and the state so we know to watch for your completion.
  3. If the date is already past, your court is the only one who can say what happens next. Call the clerk before you pay anything.

Payment, receipts and refunds

What does the course cost?

The price on your state's course page is what you pay — it's stated in full before checkout, and nothing is added afterwards.

  1. Open your state's course page; the price sits in the hero and again at checkout.
  2. Where a state or court charges its own fee, the page that quotes the price says so and names who sets it.
  3. Your receipt lists exactly what was charged.
Where's my receipt?

Every payment on the account has a receipt you can open and print from Your payments.

  1. Sign in and open Your payments.
  2. Pick the payment and open its receipt.
  3. Need it addressed differently — to an employer, say? Email us and we'll tell you what we can do.
I need a refund

Send it with the refund request form. It shows what the refund policy says for your course before you send anything, and a person replies by email.

  1. Open the refund request form and choose the reason and the course.
  2. Signed in, it lists your courses with the date you bought each one and shows what the policy says for it.
  3. Bought the wrong course? Choose that reason: we move you to the right one once, at no charge, instead of refunding.
  4. If a charge on your statement doesn't look like ours, choose that reason and give us the date, the amount and the card's last four digits.

Arizona: documents and approval

Arizona: which documents do you need, and how do I send them?

Arizona makes every school collect two things before you begin. One is a copy of the front of your driver’s license. The other is your original ticket. You send both from your course page.

  1. Photos from your phone are fine — just make sure all four corners are visible and the text is legible.
  2. Open your course from your account and use the document tiles at the top of the page.
  3. We will review them, usually within 15 minutes to 2 hours during business hours.
  4. If a copy isn't clear enough, we email you and you can send another from the same place.
Arizona: why isn't my course open yet?

Two checks come first. We check your ticket against Arizona’s statewide defensive driving database. Then a specialist reviews your two documents. Your course opens once both are done.

  1. The eligibility check runs against the statewide defensive driving database at registration — same day, usually 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. The document review follows once both copies are on file, usually 15 minutes to 2 hours during business hours.
  3. We email you when something needs resending, so watch the address you registered with.
  4. Waiting longer than that during business hours? Text or call us and we'll look at your file while you're on the line.

State pages and policies

Your state sets the rules on who can take a course, points, deadlines and court approval. Each state page below explains them, checked against the state’s own rules.
