Arizona Traffic School · The Walkthrough
How does Arizona traffic school actually work?
Six steps — and only two decisions can go wrong. First, elect the class instead of court. Never both, and never pay the ticket first. Second, finish at least 7 days before your court date. The rest happens without you — the screening, the filing, the dismissal paperwork.

Arizona Supreme Court certified — verify school #452
Six steps, two decisions
The orange stops are yours. Everything else — the screening, the filing, the dismissal paperwork — happens without you.
Citation to dismissal
The six steps, start to finish
Confirm your ticket qualifies
Eligible civil moving violation + no diversion class in the past 12 months (violation date to violation date). The eligible-violations guide settles it in a minute.
Choose the class, not court
Arizona makes you pick: contest the ticket or take the class — never both. And don’t pay the citation. Paying closes it as a conviction and ends the option.
Register & get screened
We check your citation against the statewide defensive driving database before you pay. Approval is same-day, usually 10–15 minutes.
Take the 4-hour class online
Self-paced, any device, short questions as you go — no final exam.
Beat the 7-day deadline
Complete the class at least 7 days before your court date. We file your completion electronically within 48 hours. But the calendar is yours to manage.
Dismissed — and off your record
The court dismisses the eligible citation. You pay no fine. If you don’t hold a CDL, no points are assessed and nothing reaches your driving record.
Courts accept completion notification only from a certified school. In most courts there’s nothing for you to file. A few courts also ask the driver to submit the certificate — check your citation paperwork. Your downloadable certificate is included either way.
The clock, honestly
How long it all takes
- The ticket Citation issued Your citation is the start of the clock. Do not pay it — paying closes the case as a conviction and ends the diversion option.
- 10–15 min Register, screened same day Registration takes minutes; the school checks your citation against the statewide defensive driving database before you can enroll. Approval is same-day, usually 10–15 minutes.
- 4 hours The 4-hour class Four hours, self-paced, across as many sittings as you like.
- 7 days before Completion filed We file your completion electronically through the statewide database within 48 hours. You have to finish at least 7 days before your court date.
- Your court date Court dismisses it The court dismisses the eligible citation. No points are assessed, and for non-CDL drivers nothing reaches the driving record.
- Take the class any time in here — the only hard date is the one at the end
Running out of runway? In many courts your school can request one continuance per case — if you ask at least 7 days before your court date. Inside 7 days, only the court itself can help. Call the number on your citation. The Arizona Supreme Court grants no extensions.
The finish line
Four hours from now, this can be over.
Dismissed citation. Clean record. One flat price.
$39.95 covers the course, audio read-along, certificate, and electronic court filing. Processing is $0.00, and nothing is added at checkout. The state fee, surcharge, and your court’s diversion fee are identical at every school. The cost guide calculates your court’s exact total.

How-it-works FAQ
How does Arizona traffic school work?
Six steps. Confirm your ticket is eligible. Choose the class instead of court. Register — we screen your citation against the state's database, and approval is same-day, usually 10–15 minutes. Finish the 4-hour course online. We file your completion electronically. The court dismisses the citation, and for non-CDL drivers nothing reaches your driving record. $39.95 to us, plus the state and court fees every school collects.
Do I need the court's permission before I start?
No — Arizona doesn't work on advance permission. You elect the class by enrolling instead of paying the ticket. The school confirms your eligibility against the statewide defensive driving database before you can enroll. The one thing you must not do first: pay the citation. Paying closes it as a conviction and ends the diversion option.
Can I get an extension?
Often, yes — but the path matters. In many courts, your school can request one continuance per case for you. You must ask at least 7 days before your court date. After that, only the court itself can help — call the court directly. The Arizona Supreme Court never grants citation extensions.
Is there a final exam?
No. There is no final exam. The course asks short questions as you go. Finish every unit and you are done. The course also asks a few questions to check it is you. Answer those with care. A wrong answer can mean starting the class over.
Who tells the court I finished — me or you?
We do. Certified schools file every completion electronically through the statewide database. Courts only accept completion notification from a certified school. In most courts, there's nothing for you to file. One honest caveat: a few courts also ask the driver to submit the completion certificate — check your citation paperwork. Your downloadable certificate is included either way.
How long is the class, really?
Four hours, the length Arizona sets. Self-paced, any device, log in and out as you like.
What happens when I finish?
The court dismisses your eligible citation. If you don't hold a CDL, no points are assessed. Nothing reaches your driving record for an insurer to see. The program's fees take the place of the ticket's fine.
I'm out of state right now. Can I still do this?
Yes. As long as the ticket itself is an Arizona citation, you can take an approved online course from anywhere. The class, the filing, and the dismissal all work the same wherever you're sitting.
You know exactly how it works. Knock it out today.
Approved the same day. Four hours online. We file your completion with the court. The court then dismisses the eligible citation.
