Download Your Certificate Of Completion

After completing the Texas Defensive Driving course offered by Highway Traffic School, you will be issued a Certificate of Completion. This certificate is accepted by all courts in Texas as verification that you have satisfactorily completed a defensive driving course and are therefore eligible to have your traffic ticket dismissed. The certificate will include one court copy and one insurance copy. Please note that it is the student's responsibility to ensure that the court copy of the certificate is sent to the appropriate court within the required timeframe; Highway Traffic School cannot be held responsible for certificates that the court does not receive on time.

Sign Your Certificate & Show It To The Court

It is always best to check with the court with jurisdiction over your citation to determine the preferred submission method for your Texas Defensive Driving certificate. While most Texas courts accept certificates via email, some may still require the original document to be submitted via US Postal Service mail. And in rare cases, a court might require in-person delivery. The notice you received from the court should include specific submission instructions, so be sure to follow those closely. If you have any questions, you can always contact the court directly for clarification. Failure to submit your certificate correctly could result in a delay in processing your case or even a missed deadline, so it is essential to be sure that you understand the requirements before proceeding.

Get Insurance Discount Credit

Completing a Texas Defensive Driving course may entitle you to a discount on your auto insurance premium. Check with your insurance company to see if they offer a discount and get details on their requirements. Some companies require that you provide them with a copy of the certificate, while others will accept the certificate number over the phone. The discount is usually applied immediately, so you can start enjoying the savings right away. Defensive driving courses can also help to improve your skills and confidence behind the wheel, making you a safer driver and giving you peace of mind. So whether you're looking to save money or become a better driver, taking a defensive driving course is a wise investment.

Don't Forget The 3A Driving Record

In Texas, some courts require that you submit a copy of your driving record in addition to your certificate of completion. This is known as the Type 3A Driving Record. You can order your driving record online by visiting the Texas DPS website. Once you have accessed the website, you will need to enter your personal information and pay a $10 processing fee. After your request has been processed, you will be able to download and print your driving record. Check the notice from your local court to see if this applies to you and for instructions on how to submit this document to the court.

NOTE: Most other schools offer this service at a higher cost in a bundle or combo. Don't pay more when you can get it at a cheaper cost by visiting the Texas Department of Public Safety.
