Wireless Device Course

Yes. We are certified and licensed by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to offer our course in all courts.

In 2019, a new law was enacted in Florida allowing this NEW Wireless Communication Course. The course is for any driver who has obtained a ticket for using a wireless communication device (like a cell phone) while driving in a (F.S. 316.306):

• School zone,
• School crossing, or
• Work zone.

A driver who completes this class may benefit from having the court dismiss the penalty/fine, and points would not be added to their driving record. This helps avoid increasing your insurance premium due to a traffic ticket of this kind. All in all, our course will save you money for only 90 minutes of your time.

Only tickets received for using a wireless communications device (like a cell phone) while driving in a school zone, school crossing, or work zone area are eligible for this course (F.S. 316.306). The court will not accept this course for any other violation.

You may only elect to attend the WCD course once in your lifetime. However, if you have taken this course in the past, you may qualify for the Basic Driver Improvement Course (BDI).

You must inform the Clerk of the Court in the county where you received your ticket. You must elect to take the WCD course, so the court will know to reduce or eliminate the fine and not apply the points to your driver's license record.

You must elect to attend the WCD course within 30 days of receiving your ticket by notifying the Clerk of the Court in the county where you received your ticket. You must also pay an election fee to the court. You can do this by visiting the Florida Clerk's website.

The Wireless Communications Device course will take approximately 90 minutes to complete. Florida state law requires that all WCD courses are a minimum of 90 minutes in length.

But Highway Traffic School has designed the course so you can start and stop as often as you like. There are no limits on how many times you can log in and out. Our system will remember where you left off, so you can take the course at your own pace. There is no need to complete the course all at once unless you want to.

Most students pass the final exam the first time. The exam consists of 20 questions, and a passing score is 80%. But, if you don't pass the final exam the first time, you can retake the final exam as many times as you need without paying additional fees for more attempts. So, you can take our course without worry or stress – you'll have unlimited attempts to pass the exam. And you can always review the course material during the exam.

No. You must appear in court and show your completion certificate to the court clerk.

Once you complete your course, your certificate is available immediately.

You can download, print, or save a copy of your certificate of completion directly from our website for no additional charge, and it is available immediately once you pass the final exam.
